The Sultanpur Lake is spread in an area of 250 acres. The average depth is 1.5 feet. The water body is usually 100 acres.

In the winters (November), birds from many parts of Europe & Siberia start arriving in huge numbers at the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary. This is mainly due to the snow which covers the lakes & mountains of Europe & Siberia. Due to the salty lake soil, greenery & a water body at the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, the birds come here for their food.
The wildlife officials every year, put seeds of fishes, such as, Rahu, Katla, Murathee and Mirgal, as these are very good food for the birds.

The birds which can be seen at the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, are, Siberian Crane, Grey Leg Goose, Pintail, Whistling Teal, Gadwall etc. These birds usually come into the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, during the night.
